Particularly Physics. My teacher left first quarter to fill another physics teacher spot within my school. My first quarter physics grade was a 95. Second quarter is currently a 65. I took the midterm. 95. My old teacher is still responsible for putting in my grades and assigning things but we have no teacher to teach the things. I'm frustrated. I've never failed a quarter of high school and hate that I can't do anything but angrily email her about it.

And now I don't like physics. What if I got good at in and did something cool for science. Guess I can't because my school is incapable of hiring teachers.

Hey bud. Don't give up on science/physcis because your teacher sucks. That just means you might have to invest a little more energy on your own to learn the material. Seek out classmates that 'get-it', a tutor, or a family friend that is an enginerd.

Physics is a great topic to master, and it explains why the world goes 'round. ;-)

do you have a book for the class? Isn't like 90% of high school physics just different permutations of the Pythagorean theorem?

It is. And I've figured that out. I taught myself all the formulas the night before the midterm and got a 95. It's just annoying that I understand all this stuff and have a failing grade.

as a scientist, i will attest that a solid teacher/professor/instructor is paramount to the success of the student.

seems like youre in an unfortunate situation though, through no fault of your own.

my recommendation, if you have any type of relationship with the original teacher, seek him/her out. send an email. let him know your situation, and specifically point out that while you enjoyed and were successful in his class, you are not achieving the same goals with his substitute. if the original teacher is worth his mettle, he will either be able to provide some after class instruction/tutorials, or point you in the direction of a tutor who may be more suited to your learning style.

but you have to ask/raise your hand. if you don't, both the substitute and the original teacher will likely just assume you've lost interest and not feel bad about giving you that C, or worse.

Wait, am I reading this correctly, you have literally no teacher present in class to teach the material, yet you're still being given graded assignments? If so this is a massive administrative fuckup and a situation where parents should absolutely be involved.

If you have a sub, what are they grading on that would leave you with 65 in the class and a 95 on a midterm? Were there homework issues or a drastic change in grading policy between teachers?
